Overall he wasn't good, but i think he gets a more negative rap than he deserves.

Burkie was not the WORST GM ever. He liked to gamble on trading picks for vets. Sometimes it worked, others not so much. At least he made an effort to get picks back when some of the players or prospects didn't work out.

Left us with kessel, jvr, kadri, bozak, rielly, gardiner, brown and leivo.

I thought Burke was ok, maybe they could have done a bit better had he not been fired and had a few more years to conplete his plan. To me, Nonis was worse. In the end I remember Burke as being great at trades, mediocre at signings and horrible at drafting/developement. So not a great GM fit for today's NHL.

I suppose if you felt like being generous at all you could give him props for undoing his biggest & worst move by trading away Clarkson. Although I do have my doubts that he orchestrated that trade himself anyway.

But top 3 worst for sure. Way in over his head. Unmitigated disaster after another. And what, all within two years? Absolutely brutal.
